Simple lang

“Karaniwang tao san ka tutungo, kapag nawasak nag iisang mundo?,” this was one of Joey Ayala’s heartfelt song last night.

I was able to attend the Greenpeace ‘cool, star studded party’ last night, July 7, 2007, at Conspiracy Café in Visayas Avenue to formally launch the Simple lang pledge for the planet. The launching was simultaneous with the Live Earth concert – a concert for climate in crisis - at New York, Brazil, United Kingdom, China, Australia, South Africa, Japan and Germany.

Chuck Baclagon, one of Greenpeace artists, entertained the crowd before the formal launching of Simple lang pledge for the planet

Greenpeace supporters and volunteers, media men and celebrities – supporters attended the party.

The project commences with this month’s simple challenges which are ‘unplug, switch off, save energy.’ Greenpeace will send simple challenges – to everyone who will pledge – every month until December 2007.

We, all, in our own ways can really do simple things to save the climate. As Ms. Abby – the Greenpeace Philippines Climate and Energy Campaign Manager put it, “We are part of the problem, and we are also part of the solution.”

Every individual can be a part of the solution to climate change by joining the Energy (R)evolution and winning the simple pledges for the planet.

Last night, Greenpeace supporters and volunteers, media men and celebrities had united in a ‘cool party’ at Conspiracy Café to face the challenges of saving the climate. It was inspiring to hear actor/model Richard Gutierrez saying, “I am ready!”

Simple lang naman, unplug, switch off, save energy, PLEDGE FOR THE PLANET!
