The signing of Republic Act 9710 or the Magna Carta of Women gives a glitter of hope to the thousands of women activists and advocates to achieving true gender equality.
Now, an official national policy, the Magna Carta of Women is hoped to recognize the rights and freedom of women, particularly the marginalized.
For so long, we have a culture wherein women are oppressed. The men are more privileged and given more priority.
The signing of Magna Carta of Women, if implemented, will now assure women equal opportunities. It will not be easy. But, I think we can start by truly protecting and empowering women.
Women advocates and activists, on the other hand, must continue fighting for the realization of true gender equality.
The shape of my life today starts with my family. It is determined by my background and childhood, my mind and its education, my conscience and its pressure, my heart and its desires and the people who taught me the meaning of kindness and compassion.
