He was one of the forceful leaders of the College Editors’ Guild of the Philippines (CEGP). Now he was found detained on May 20 after he was reported missing on May 15, 2008.
Randy Felix P. Malayao was the Vice President for Visayas of the CEGP in 1991 to 1994 and the Editor in Chief of Mangingisda – the official college publication of UP Visayas, for two years.
I met him in 1996 in the 28th National Press Congress and 56th National annual Convention of the Guild at the Jamboree site in Los Banos Laguna. He was there only to say goodbye to the Guild he served very well for several years.
He’s not a criminal. He’s just a fellow Guilder who decided to take the greater (and more dangerous) responsibility of serving the people fulltime.
Now, he’s among the many political detainees.
He deserves freedom!
The shape of my life today starts with my family. It is determined by my background and childhood, my mind and its education, my conscience and its pressure, my heart and its desires and the people who taught me the meaning of kindness and compassion.
